Josh Lucas Ends Season with Two Top Five Runs at Ponderosa Speedway's Two Day Event, Winter Plans, and Special Thanks to All 2008 Sponsors and Crew Written By: Walters Web Design ST. LOUIS, MO (October 7th, 2008) -- Josh Lucas unloaded his dirt modified for the final two times in 2008 this past weekend at Ponderosa Speedway. He would enter the two day event with a chance of improving his fifth place position in the track standings. On Friday night Josh ran second quickest in qualifying. This gave him a great starting spot for the heat race and he was able to take the victory. This put Lucas on the outside front row for the start of the twenty five lap main event. As the green dropped on the twenty two car field Jason Wheatley grabbed the early lead followed closely by Lucas. A restart on lap six would allow Joey Kramer to take away the runner up position from Lucas and punch a hole for Benji Lee to take third. Another restart on lap fifteen would allow Skylar Marlar to take another spot from Lucas. One more caution would wave on lap twenty but Lucas would hold on to his seventh top five run of the season. Saturday would be a little better for Josh Lucas. he would slow a little from his usual qualifying run putting him seventh overall. This did not slow him down the least in the heat as he would grab his sixth heat win in a row. This gave Lucas a great spot for the start of the 30 lap feature and as the field rolled to the green flag Lucas would grab the top spot heading into turn one followed by Benji Lee, Elliott Despain, Randy Turpin, and Joe David Turner. Lee challenged Lucas for the top spot on lap five and would grab the point one lap later. Lucas would hold close for a few laps but by lap eleven he had slipped just a bit from the rear bumper of Lee. A caution would fly on lap seventeen but Lucas was unable to regain the top spot. Mike Marler was in the process of making a hard charge from his mid pack starting spot., on lap twenty he would make contact with Tim York as they battled for the fourth spot bringing out the final caution. In the closing laps Wheatley would start to close in on Lucas but he would not have enough to seal the deal. Lee would take the checkered flag while Lucas held on for the runner up spot followed by Jason Wheatley, Elliott Despain, and Randy Turpin. Josh Lucas Racing would like the thank all the 2008 sponsors and crew for all their support and hard work during the 2008 season. Josh said, "I can't tell you how smooth this season has been for me but it has been a lot of hard work from family and friends to get the results of our season." The team plans on tearing down the entire car over the winter to give the chassis a new paint job along with some new sheet metal. After a very successful season the team plans to attend banquets for Bluegrass Speedway, Ponderosa Speedway, and the Battle of Bluegrass Series. The team was able to move up to fourth place in the track standings after their solid weekend at Ponderosa Speedway.
