ST. LOUIS, MO (September 16th, 2008) -- This past weekend Josh Lucas Racing had another action packed weekend. The team went into the weekend with a little momentum from the past few weekends of solid results and came out with even more.

Friday night the team headed for Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, KY, a track where the team opened up their 2008 season with a win. While that win has been their only for 2008 they have not dropped off anyone's radar as Lucas finds himself in the top 5 nearly every weekend. This weekend would be no different. Lucas posted seventh quickest in qualifying. Things started to come together quickly in the heat race as Lucas drove to the win. This put the team fourth row inside for the start of the twenty lap modified feature. While Jason Wheatley grabbed the lead on the start Lucas was able to grab one position moving himself to the sixth position. On lap six, he pressured Kevin Nesselhauf hard for a top five spot and was able to work his way around after a small battle. Not slowing down the least he then took the fourth spot away from Kelly Warren just three laps later. Lucas would spend the last 10 laps hunting down J.T. Ayers who held on to the third spot. Lucas would give it all he could and his work paid off when he took third by a nose at the line. Jason Wheatley would hold on for the win and clinch the track championship followed by Benji Lee, Josh Lucas, J.T. Ayers, and Elliott Despain. After the weekend's event Lucas currently holds down fifth spot in track championship points.

The second night of the double header weekend was hosted in Bardstown, KY at the Bluegrass Speedway. While Lucas has not yet won an event at Bluegrass Speedway in 2008 he has found himself in the top three, five different times. Teams drew pills for their starting spots in the heat races, Lucas was able to come out with another heat race win his second of the weekend. Lucas started the 20 lap feature event outside pole among a familiar front row. Benji Lee would grab the lead off the start but Lucas was right there nibbling at the lead the entire event. As Lucas tried for the lead Jason Wheatley would pressure for the runner up spot making a three car battle for the win. Lucas would drive alongside Lee several times but was unable to complete the pass. A caution came out late in the race, this turned out bad for Lucas as his tires just went away after battling hard for the lead with Lee for so long. With just a handful of laps remaining lee would pull away to take the victory. Lucas was able to hold off Wheatley for second, Dion Benningfield and Randy Turpin would round out the top five. After another solid run Lucas holds third place in track championship points.

After the success of this past weekend the team is not slowing down at all. Friday the 19th Lucas will unload at Ponderosa Speedway for the Battle of Bluegrass. As a little added bonus the OUTDOOR channel will be there filming the race for an airing date to be announced. Be sure to check back to the website after the weekend's events for updates.
