ST. LOUIS, MO (September 23rd, 2008) -- This past weekend was a big one for Josh Lucas. He knew if he wanted to hold on to a top ten in Battle of Bluegrass point standings he needed a strong run in the $2,000 to win series finally hosted at Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, KY. Lucas opened his 2008 racing season with a win at the speedway and has been winless since despite only one finish out of the top ten so far in his 2008 season.

Lucas was fast right of the hauler. Josh led thirty six entries with a time of 15.04 seconds. Officials inverted the top four for the start of the heat races. This put Lucas outside second row for the start of his heat. His starting position did not slow him the least as he would drive to his third straight heat race win this month. The winners of the heats drew numbers for their starting position in the main event. Lucas would draw inside second row for the start of the thirty lap main event.

Jason Hall took the lead on lap one allowing Lucas an opportunity to grab the second spot followed by Bryan Barber, Jason Wheatley, and Benji Lee. Just a quick as he took the spot he would lose it to Barber on lap 2. Lucas would hold on to third for five laps before losing it to Lee on lap seven. The middle section of the race would fill up with quick cautions and restarts. The final ten laps would host excitement throughout the top five cars. Lucas found himself in an eye catching battle with Kelly Warren for the fourth spot. Just as Lucas was able to secure his fourth place spot Delane Browning would move into the top five. Lucas would hold on to his fourth place spot until the white flag lap as Browning took over the fourth spot. Hall would take the win followed by Lee, Barber, Browning, and Lucas holding on for another top five finish. Lucas would move up one spot in the series standings putting himself eighth overall.

The team has yet another big weekend ahead of them. Next Saturday the 4th Josh Lucas Racing will invade Bluegrass Speedway for the final points race of the 2008 season. Lucas currently holds down third spot in overall track standings. He will need one more solid run to hold on to his spot or advance his position. Look to the team website after the weekend's events to check up on how Josh Lucas Racing did over the weekend and if they were able to hold on to their third position.
