Josh Lucas Caps Off Bluegrass Speedway Season With a Win, Holds Third in Standings

ST. LOUIS, MO (September 30th, 2008) -- This past Saturday Bluegrass Speedway in Bardstown, KY hosted their final event of their 2008 season. Josh Lucas went into the event sitting third in overall track championship points. He needed a good run to hold on to his third place run and he exceeded his expectations at weekends end.

Lucas would take the first step forward as he went on to take his heat race win. This gave him a great starting spot for the twenty lap main event. As the green dropped on the feature Lucas jumped out to an early lead. He would fight Jason Wheatley and many cautions for the top spot. Wheatley pressured Lucas for most of the race but fell off in the final five laps. This would give Lucas the little room he needed to come home with his first victory at Bluegrass Speedway in 2008 piloting the Lucas Family owned dirt modified. Jeff Stith would grab the runner up spot as Wheatley fell off toward the end, Timmy Glazer came home third followed by Blake Cook and Rocky Wilson rounding out the top five.

Josh Lucas knew he needed a good run heading into the event and he did everything he could to advance his third position in track standings but would fall only twenty five points short of Benji Lee for second. Jason Wheatley would take the 2008 track championship. Lucas capped off a great season of racing at Bluegrass Speedway with seven top five's. He was also able to finish every race in the top ten and finish every race he entered at the speedway, the key to a solid season. The pressure is not off Lucas just yet as next weekend the team will head to Ponderosa Speedway for a two day show where he will look to improve his fifth position in track standings.
